Office Engineer
What You Will Do
GFT is seeking an Office Engineer to join our Construction Services team in the Raleigh area. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Raleigh office.
What You’ll Be Challenged To Do
- Independently performs a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard construction engineering techniques for a small project or selected segments of a larger project.
- Must be capable of exercising independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard construction engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to make minor adaptations and modifications.
- Possesses skills to acceptably supervise OE and FOA staff.
- Reviews and modifies schedules, specifications, and drawings.
- Prepares status and progress reports.
- Recognizes construction or engineering problems and applies standard techniques and procedures to resolve same.
- Captures and coordinates drawing schedules, project schedules, and contract schedules with design engineering activities.
- Evaluates alternate construction methods.
- Initiates field changes to drawings and specifications.
- Reviews and comments on contract specifications.
- Establishes and maintains job record files.
- Assists construction inspectors and contractor’s representatives in clarification of contract drawings and specifications relative to assigned contracts.
- Reviews and processes contractor's submittal of shop and working drawings and material samples and distributes as required.
- Assists in reviewing contractor's claims determining merit of claims and negotiating cost and/or time adjustments based upon such claims.
- Prepares change orders and contract modifications.
- Assists in preparing cost and/or time estimates for pending change orders and contract modifications.
Education | Experience
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in related field preferred
- 15+ years related experience
What We Prefer You Bring
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Proficiency with Construction Management, Scheduling and Document Management software(s)
- OSHA Safety Training
- Excellent communication skills
- Must possess a driver’s license to fulfill the essential functions of the position

Compensation
The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $125,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
