Office Based Lab Technologist
About the role
Perform diagnostic and interventional peripheral vascular procedures in an outpatient Office-Based Lab setting.
Assist physicians with diagnostic, therapeutic, and interventional vascular procedures per treatment plans.
Support angioplasties and other interventional treatments under direct physician supervision.
Operate and monitor specialized cath lab and interventional equipment (e.g., IVUS, AngioJet, laser devices)
Ensure proper setup, sterilization, and maintenance of procedure rooms and equipment.
Maintain radiation safety standards and report fluoro times at required intervals.
Circulate in procedure rooms and assist the care team throughout interventions.
Transport patients within the department as needed.
Maintain accurate documentation in EMR and procedural logs.
Ensure proper data transfer and storage of imaging and procedural information.
Follow infection control, HIPAA, and all compliance standards.
Maintain equipment functionality through daily checks and quality assurance.
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, high-quality care to adult and geriatric vascular patients.
- Achieve accurate diagnosis and effective interventional treatment outcomes.
- Promote patient safety through vigilant monitoring and radiation protection practices.
- Ensure efficiency and accuracy in procedural workflow and documentation.
- Contribute to a collaborative, team-based environment in high-stress clinical situations.
- Help maintain compliance with organizational, regulatory, and safety standards.
- Support continuous improvement through training, education, and equipment expertise.
- Serve as a resource and “train-the-trainer” for assigned technologies and staff.
Requirements
- ARRT certification required; RCIS preferred.
- Licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners in Radiologic Technology.
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
- Minimum 2 years cath lab or critical care experience required.
- Strong knowledge of peripheral vascular anatomy, physiology, and interventional procedures.
- Skilled in sterile technique, scrub assisting, and circulating duties.
- Competent in hemodynamic monitoring and waveform interpretation.
- Experienced with vascular closure devices and sheath removal with manual hemostasis.
- Strong understanding of radiation safety and interventional equipment operation.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-stress clinical environments.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and patient-care coordination skills.
- Proficient in EMR documentation and basic computer systems.
