About the role

The payroll clerk ensures accurate and timely payment of district employees, manages payroll information, and supports bookkeepers.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains employee payroll information files and records in both written and electronic formats.
  • Processes regular semi-monthly and special payrolls in eFinance, including printing payroll checks, direct deposit vouchers, and uploading payroll information in Etrieve.
  • Maintains knowledge of coding and processes within all payroll-related software.
  • Performs other payroll tasks such as data entry of hourly staff, calculating blended rates, overtime, verifying leave pay and deductions.
  • Researches and edits discrepancies of payroll data to ensure accuracy and adherence to procedures prior to processing.
  • Prepares direct deposit information for transmission and transmits it in a timely manner.
  • Sends deduction reports to the Director of Accounting and the Benefits Coordinator.
  • Collaborates with the Benefits Coordinator to ensure benefit and investment deductions are correct and deducted for each applicable employee.
  • Provides assistance and support to all bookkeepers in the district.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior school experience with data management systems analysis preferred.

  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations pertaining to labor laws.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information.

  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral formats with staff and community.
  • Ability to work with people of various personality types.
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely.
  • Possess sound emotional judgment.
  • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and maintain vision and mission of programs.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance, and professional growth.
