Summary
Provides oversight of RN/ LPN/CNA and secretarial staff in the performance of daily duties.
Assists in problems solving to help alleviate clinical issues and processes on the assigned unit.
Act as the clinical resource person, working as a team with the nurse manager, staff and the provider to identify the plan of care for each patient.
Supports nurse manager in developing work plans that enable the unit to reach financial/quality/safety/operational targets.
Responsibilities
- Oversees & assures short & long term Nursing Dept. staff schedules per established quidelines
Facilitates units in emergency medical assessment & care of residents including interventions, transportation & other resources needed
Serves as a clinical resource person to staff in problem solving, assessments, special procedures & clinical skill enhancements
Coordinates with the Nursing Staff resident units & admissions dept. the rapid admission of residents including obtaining evaluations as indicated
Serves as adjunct to staff development coordinator in promoting planned inservices to nursing staff as per master schedule/plan
Provides continuity of resident status with hospital supervisory staff, and Nursing Administration
Supervises the M.D.R. directing, interacting with residents, families and staff in providing safe, pleasant mealtime and assuring appropriate completion of required records
Serves as major facilitator in QA program for Nursing Dept. including completion of assessments of designated audits & resultant actions required
In absence of Nurse Manager, provides staff counseling, discipline as per policy
Assists with Charge Nurse duties as needed while maintaining overall supervisory responsibility.
Participates in Nursing department and faclity QI program.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited registered nurse program required
One to three years of nursing experience
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors Degree, LT PAC nursing experience, One year of supervisory experience
Physical Requirements
- M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
Licenses / Certifications
- BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA)
- RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
Pay Range
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
