Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end ocean freight operations for import and export shipments.
- Develop and maintain relationships with ocean carriers and trucking companies.
- Negotiate freight rates, contracts, and service agreements to optimize cost and service quality.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and company policies.
- Monitor shipment schedules, transit times, and cargo status; proactively resolve delays, disruptions, and claims.
- Oversee documentation accuracy, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and customs filings.
- Led, train, and supervise ocean freight staff; set performance goals and conduct evaluations.
- Analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, detention/demurrage, and carrier performance.
- Collaborate with internal teams (sales, warehousing and distribution, trucking, customs) to achieve business objectives.
- Manage budgets and control costs related to ocean freight operations.
- Identify process improvements and implement best practices to increase efficiency and service reliability.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in ocean freight operations, freight forwarding, or international logistics.
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business or a related field preferred.
- Prior supervisory or management experience required.
- Proficiency in ERP platforms and MS Office.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Bilingual in English and Korean.
Pay
The base salary range for this role is between $80,000 - 100,000 yearly, and your base salary will depend on your experiences, qualifications, and skills.
