Occupational Therapist - Per Diem - Days

About the role

Occupational Therapist responsible for evaluating, planning, and delivering occupational therapy treatments across inpatient, outpatient, or home care settings.

Responsibilities

• Performing assessments for diverse patient populations based on diagnosis and physician orders
• Establishing and implementing individualized treatment plans with patient and family collaboration
• Using various techniques to promote recovery, restore function, or prevent disability
• Monitoring treatment progress and updating care plans accordingly
• Formulating discharge and follow-up strategies, including home programs and equipment recommendations
• Providing patient and family education, including equipment use and safety precautions
• Recommending and instructing on adaptive devices and orthotic fabrication per physician orders
• Participating in interdisciplinary team meetings and making appropriate referrals
• Conducting home evaluations and making environmental recommendations
• Ensuring accurate documentation, timely reporting, and billing
• Communicating effectively with patients, families, and staff regarding care and concerns
• Staying current with occupational therapy practices, ensuring safety, and complying with regulations
• Providing supervision to COTAs, students, and support staff, and contributing to departmental quality improvement activities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy
• NY State license as an Occupational Therapist
• Current BLS certification
• Ability to travel within the region
