Occupational Therapist-Outpatient - Physical Therapy - Part Time

About the Role

The Physical Therapist is responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, evaluating, and implementing care for assigned patients. This role involves adhering to all standards of the Physical Therapy Practice Act, providing technical therapy care, supplies, equipment, and interventions to a designated patient population ranging from children/adolescents to geriatrics. The position requires active participation in fulfilling the mission of CHRISTUS St. Patrick Hospital and demonstrating behavior consistent with the organization's core values.

This role may require pushing, pulling, or lifting 50-100 pounds, partially lifting or supporting 100-150 pounds during patient transfers, prolonged standing, walking, bending, stretching, and moving patients or equipment. The position is subject to exposure to infectious diseases, chemicals, radiation, sharp tools, odorous specimens, and potentially combative patients or visitors.

Responsibilities

• Complete required Healthstream (HLC) modules and associate self-evaluation by assigned dates.
• Attend at least 2 Quarterly Associate Forums and 50% of monthly department meetings and educational in-services.
• Evaluate, treat, plan, and set goals for patients requiring therapy services, including discharge recommendations within the continuum of care.
• Provide daily documentation and billing of services.
• Administer patient care as specified by the treatment plan and goals, maintaining hospital productivity standards.
• Record patient evaluations, treatments, discharges, education, and billing accurately and in a timely manner.
• Follow all safety and infection control policies, using appropriate therapeutic delivery and recognizing adverse reactions.
• Ensure quality in patient treatment, communicate effectively with medical staff, and seek consults from other disciplines when necessary.
• Maintain personal work schedule and utilize good time management skills, working as a team member.
• Attend and participate in departmental education and meetings, and contribute to department education initiatives.
• Adhere to the hospital mission, maintain professional conduct, respect patient confidentiality, and treat all individuals with courtesy and concern.
• Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants (PTA) and Physical Medicine Aides.

Requirements

• Master’s or Doctor of Physical Therapy from an accredited school.
• Louisiana licensure.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
• CPR certification, CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) Certification, and FIM (Functional Independence Measure) Certification.
• Must complete all required Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to maintain licensure.
• New graduates accepted.

Schedule

Part-time position with a work schedule of 7 AM - 5 PM, including weekends as scheduled.
