Occupational Therapist (Outpatient) - (Part-Time)

The Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana (RHI), named Best Rehabilitation Hospital in Indiana in 2025 and 2026, specializes in brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, and complex medical conditions. RHI is the only Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Model System in Indiana and one of only 16 in the U.S. Our campus on the west side of Indianapolis provides inpatient and outpatient evidence-based, patient-centered therapy for ages 15 and older.

About the role

The Occupational Therapist (OT) delivers Occupational Therapy services for inpatient and/or outpatient populations aged 15 and older, including evaluations, evidence-based interventions, equipment recommendations, and modality application under physician or qualified non-physician provider referral.

Responsibilities

• Administer OT evaluations to inpatients and/or outpatients, determining appropriate treatment programs and equipment needs while integrating age-specific considerations for the physical medicine rehabilitation population.
• Develop a patient-centered treatment plan based on evaluation, patient goals, and age-related needs to optimize treatment and function.
• Ensure the treatment plan supports medical necessity, incorporates evidence-based treatments and outcome measures, and is revised/updated per policy.
• Communicate the treatment plan to appropriate team members, including attendance at team conferences, and ensure physician sign-off as required.
• Complete documentation accurately and in compliance with department and regulatory timelines to support skilled services and medical necessity.
• Charge appropriately for services provided and document outcome measures.
• Provide clinical supervision, including coordination of care and delegation of duties, to assistants, techs, and students per state/federal regulations and hospital guidelines.
• Ensure patient care interventions provided by assistants and students align with the patient’s plan of care.

Requirements

• Occupational Therapy Degree from an accredited program.
• Registered/certified by the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapists (NBCOT).
• Occupational Therapist license in the state of Indiana.
• Current CPR certification (AHA standards) or ability to obtain within 4 weeks of start date.
• 1 year of adult neuro rehab experience preferred.
