About the Role
The Occupational Therapist evaluates, treats, and develops care plans for patients of all ages, serving as a clinical resource and role model for staff and students.
Responsibilities
- Performs patient transfers, ensures safe body mechanics, designs individualized care plans, adjusts treatments based on patient response, and uses standardized outcome measures.
- Educates patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare providers using effective teaching methods.
- Evaluates clinical findings to determine diagnoses and treatment outcomes, conducts examinations, and screens patients to assess therapy needs.
- Utilizes support personnel ethically, monitors their care, and documents evaluations, treatment plans, and patient responses in compliance with policies and regulations.
- Implements functional interventions considering emotional and physical needs, modifies approaches as needed, and collaborates with the care team.
- Provides supervision to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and technicians, and communicates patient status, discharge plans, and equipment needs clearly.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Valid Illinois OT license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
