Occupational Therapist (OT) - Mobile Outpatient

About the role

As an Occupational Therapist at Powerback, you will primarily provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for the older adult population. This may include a patient's private residence or their room in an independent living facility. Powerback Rehabilitation To You allows you to evaluate and treat patients in their most functional environment—their home. You will organize and conduct occupational therapy programs to facilitate rehabilitation, directing patient participation in tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance while facilitating skills essential for adaptation and productivity.

This position offers a flexible schedule and work environment across various settings, including Dover, Madbury, Durham, Newmarket, and Lee.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards.
• Adhere to department and patient treatment schedules, timely clinical and billing documentation requirements, and work-related meetings.
• Attend and contribute to patient care and staffing conferences and other related meetings.
• Make referrals to other disciplines or agencies to address the comprehensive needs of the patient.
• Consult with members of the rehabilitation team, including community physicians, to select appropriate therapeutic regimens consistent with patient needs and capabilities.
• Adapt programs and/or plans of care based on individual patient needs.
• Promote a safe environment and enforce the elimination of fire and safety hazards.
• Order supplies and equipment as necessary; clean, maintain, and report the need for repair of equipment.
• Prioritize patient service, ensuring a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes individual needs and rights.
• Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of appropriate tests and measures. Synthesize information to establish a diagnosis, identify impairments, and determine the predicted level of improvement and time required. Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with patients and caregivers, including documentation and record-keeping.

• Design, fabricate, fit, and/or apply adaptive devices, including training patients in their use (e.g., orthotics and prosthetics).
• Select appropriate activities suited to the individual’s physical and mental capacity, intelligence level, and interest.
• Instruct patients in skills and techniques required for participation in functional activities and evaluate progress, attitudes, and behavior related to rehabilitative potential.
• Perform routine reexaminations as needed to modify or progress the treatment plan.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards.
• Initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
• Valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license in the state of practice.
• Valid driver’s license or reliable, independent transportation to and from patients’ residences.

Pay

Posted salary range: USD $41.00 - USD $61.00 per hour. Bonus: USD $5,000.00.
