Occupational Therapists play a vital role in helping patients regain independence, confidence, and quality of life after illness or injury. Working closely with physicians and an interdisciplinary care team, you will evaluate needs, develop individualized care plans, and provide hands-on treatment that supports recovery through every stage of healing. As our Therapist, you will be a skilled member of the health care team and provide therapeutic services to patients using initial assessments, therapeutic procedures and interventions in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the hospital and applicable law.
Responsibilities
- Treat disabilities, injuries and disease using therapeutic techniques according to prescriptions from a physician, performs testing and evaluation procedures on patients.
- Record and document patient observation, treatment and changes in condition.
- Monitor, analyze and review clinical data.
- Reevaluate and modify treatment plans and goals based upon patient performance.
- Communicate clearly and provide explanation of care in a way that can be easily understood by patients and their families.
- Ensure patient's family is informed of patient status.
- Evaluate each patient’s functional abilities and needs, then develop individualized therapy plans in coordination with physicians and the care team.
- Deliver skilled, evidence-based interventions that promote healing, independence, and quality of life through purposeful, compassionate care.
- Monitor patient progress, adjust plans as needed, and ensure thorough, timely documentation that reflects quality outcomes.
- Educate patients and families to build understanding, confidence, and engagement throughout recovery and beyond.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners to ensure seamless transitions of care, safe environments, and exceptional patient experiences.
- Lead by example—providing guidance to therapy assistants or students and upholding HCA Healthcare’s mission, values, and commitment to excellence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy; Master's preferred.
- Experience in appropriate healthcare setting preferred.
- Current Florida Occupational Therapist license.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) through AHA (American Heart Association).
- Current FIM (Functional Independence Measure) required (within 90 days of hire).
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to read/comprehend written instructions; ability to follow verbal instructions; PC skills.
