About the Role
The Occupational Therapist provides direct outpatient rehabilitation care within skilled nursing facilities, focusing on improving patients' functional abilities and quality of life. They collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop and execute treatment plans tailored to diverse patient populations with orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, and post-acute needs.
Responsibilities
- Implement and modify occupational therapy treatment plans based on physician referrals
- Establish, assess, and adjust realistic, measurable, and functional goals
- Oversee and evaluate care provided by OTAs, rehab aides, and students
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using therapy software
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members
- Ensure patient safety, rights, and confidentiality at all times
- Assist in patient evacuations and emergency procedures as needed
Requirements
- Certified by NBCOT and licensed in the applicable state
- Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program (BSOT or MSOT)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and email communication
- Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and adherence to policies and regulations
- CPR certification required and must remain current
- Maintain good body mechanics and safety practices
- Participate in community health initiatives as appropriate
- Exhibit dependable attendance and positive attitude
- Adhere to company policies, including confidentiality and compliance standards
