Occupational Therapist - Inpatient Bone and Joint - Per Diem

The Occupational Therapist (OT) position is available at the Bone and Joint Institute at Hartford Hospital, part of the state-of-the-art Bone and Joint Institute in the Northeast. The hospital is committed to providing cutting-edge musculoskeletal and orthopedic care.

Responsibilities

• Independently evaluates patients' level of function and develops individualized treatment goals and plans aligned with patient/caregiver goals.
• Determines and implements treatment strategies to promote health, prevent injury or disability, and improve daily living, leisure/recreation, and productivity/work.
• Provides patient and caregiver education about treatment, precautions, and equipment use.
• Completes documentation including evaluations, care plans, progress notes, patient discharge summaries, and care transition plans.
• Participates in patient transition planning and discharge planning, recommending community resources to meet patient needs.
• Delegates patient care tasks and provides clinical supervision for Occupational Therapy students, Rehabilitation Aides, and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 weekend days per month and 1 HHC holiday per year.
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an ACOTE-accredited program.
• Current license to practice as an OT in the state of CT.
• CPR certification.
• National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification.

Qualifications

• Preferred OT working experience, but open to new graduates.

Skills

Therapeutic techniques to support daily activities, including fine motor skills, exercises for gross motor skills, and techniques to maximize function in various contexts and environments.
