Occupational Therapist I - Pediatrics

UNC Hospitals Rehabilitation Service Line is seeking a compassionate and dedicated part-time Pediatric Occupational Therapist I to join our multidisciplinary team at the Center for Rehabilitation Care in Chapel Hill, NC.

About the role

In this 20-hour-per-week position, you will provide high-quality care across the pediatric continuum for patients birth to 21 years of age, including developmental, orthopedic, and neurological rehabilitation. Diagnoses seen include but are not limited to autism, sensory processing disorders, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, muscular dystrophy, hemiplegia, fine motor delay, brachial plexus, spina bifida, prematurity, and traumatic brain injury.

You will work in collaboration with a dynamic and experienced pediatric-focused therapy team that includes physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, pediatric physiatrists, social workers, and pediatric nurse coordinators. We are also engaged in weekly to monthly interdisciplinary clinics to provide specialized, holistic care for diagnoses such as Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy, Limb Deficiency, Special Infant Care Clinic (SICC), Neuromuscular Diagnoses, Brain Injury, Charcot Marie Tooth, Down Syndrome, and Rett Syndrome.

In addition to patient care, you will engage in mentorship, professional development, student placements, and clinical program development, allowing you to make a meaningful impact on individual patients, future therapists, and the broader community.

Responsibilities

• Completes occupational therapy documentation, billing, and statistics per team guidelines.
• Manages daily caseload with efficiency and efficacy.
• Meets productivity standards per team guidelines.
• Administers assessment tools or instruments to assist in establishing a plan of care and subsequent modifications; manages resources to accomplish patient goals.
• Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.
• Mentors assistive personnel and delegates responsibilities as per licensing board guidelines.
• Provides clinical precepting and teaching for students and/or staff under the guidance of the clinical specialist or other subject matter experts; provides regular feedback, coaching, and mentoring.
• Evaluates the learner's performance.
• Assists in the planning and coordinating of clinical programs in collaboration with the clinical specialist or manager.
• Participates in continuous improvement in clinical services by attending and participating in departmental meetings and in-services.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
• Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the state of North Carolina.
• BLS certification within 3 months of hire date.
• Exhibits effective communication and interprofessional skills.
• Requires physical stamina and repetitive movements, including, but not limited to, sitting, standing, kneeling, walking, and squatting during patient interventions while supporting one's weight.
• Can engage in high-level problem-solving to ensure patient safety during mobilization.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and time management abilities.
• Experience working with diverse pediatric patient populations.
• One to two years of experience is preferred.
• Consistent availability on selected days for outpatient caseload.

Pay

$35.87 - $51.57 per hour (Hiring Range). Pay offers are determined by experience and internal equity.

Schedule

• Part-time, 20 hours per week.
• Day shift.
• Onsite at the Center for Rehabilitation Care in Chapel Hill, NC.
