Occupational Therapist I P/D (Outpatient) - Occupational Therapy

About the Role

Occupational Therapists (OTs) at Rady Children’s Health – San Diego are integral members of the health care team, providing specialized, family-centered care to infants, children, and adolescents with developmental, feeding/swallowing, sensory, and physical/orthopedic challenges. The role involves evaluation, development, and implementation of individualized treatment plans to promote meaningful goal achievement through skill development, remediation, or accommodation. OTs routinely engage in multidisciplinary work and quality improvement projects to drive best practices forward. The organization offers varied opportunities for growth and professional advancement, including in-house continuing education and training in different specialties.

A Clinical Ladder program with Occupational Therapist levels II and III is available, allowing for additional involvement in education, research, and advocacy while maintaining patient care as the primary responsibility. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for advanced roles will have the opportunity to discuss eligibility with department leadership during the interview process.

Responsibilities

• Conduct evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans for pediatric patients with developmental, feeding/swallowing, sensory, and physical/orthopedic challenges.
• Implement treatment plans to promote skill development, remediation, or accommodation for meaningful goal achievement.
• Engage in multidisciplinary collaboration and quality improvement projects to advance best practices.
• Participate in opportunities for professional growth, including in-house continuing education and specialty training.
• Maintain patient care as the primary responsibility while contributing to education, research, and advocacy through the Clinical Ladder program (for eligible candidates).

Requirements

• Master’s degree in occupational therapy from an AOTA-accredited program (Bachelor’s degree accepted if graduated prior to 2004).
• Valid California OT license or eligibility if a new graduate or licensed in another state.
• Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
• BLS for Health Providers (American Heart Association).
• Ability to work independently, using critical thinking to make objective, strategic, and results-oriented decisions in patient care and organizational priorities.
• Valid California driver’s license and auto insurance, when applicable.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctorate degree (non-MD).
• Experience in pediatric settings.
• Relevant specialty certifications in OT advanced practice.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Pay

The current salary range for this position is $45.75 to $62.90 per hour. Compensation decisions consider experience, education, licensure, unique skillsets, organizational need, and internal equity. The range listed reflects the expected hiring range for qualified candidates and does not represent the full salary range for the position.
