Occupational Therapist

About the role

Lumen Pediatric Therapy provides comprehensive evidence-based services to help individuals with autism maximize their potential. We offer a multi-disciplinary environment with teams in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Occupational Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and develop and implement treatment plans focusing on improving/restoring independence and physical/cognitive functioning.
• Provide one-on-one therapy sessions based on the client's individual treatment plan.
• Provide guidance & instruction to family members of developed therapeutic, creative, and self-care procedures/activities and explains adaptive, progressive approaches and compensatory strategies.
• Conduct functional, cognitive, and sensory re-evaluations, as indicated, to assess the need for any revisions in the treatment plan.
• Provide consultation to other members of the child's care team in the use of necessary equipment, techniques, modalities, and basic activity programs, when needed.
• Maintain clinical documentation and progress notes. Submit all required paperwork in a timely manner according to Lumen Pediatric Therapy’s policy.
• Complete re-evaluations yearly to document progress and continued eligibility.
• Work collaboratively with other therapists, providers, administrators, and school staff for effective programs and follow the specified program routines and schedules.
• Maintain strict client confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
• Provide a safe and supportive environment for clients and families.
• Attend clinic or payor required ongoing trainings to advance clinical practice & professional development.
• Affirmative action statement: Assist with additional clinical and/or administrative duties as delegated.

Requirements

• Licensed Occupational Therapist with at least 1-2 years’ experience providing direct therapy to pediatric clientele, implementing assessments, developing intervention plans, and working on collaborative teams.
• Ideal experience with children diagnosed with ASD.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift, squat, bend, push/pull 50 pounds as needed for therapy services.
• Desire for continued learning opportunities.

Work Environment / Service Hours

Lumen Pediatric Therapy is a center-based clinical model that supports skill generalization across additional environments (e.g., home, school, or community) as specified by treatment plan and pre-approved by family & Lumen Pediatric Therapy. Work hours will be based upon individual client treatment plan and clinic hours. In the event of session cancellation, therapist will work in conjunction with Lumen Pediatric Therapy and family to make up hours based on relevant payor guidelines. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
