About the role

We are seeking a flexible and dedicated full-time or part-time Occupational Therapist (or COTA) to join our team at Bayou Bend Hospital in Franklin, LA. This role is ideal for a clinician who is passionate about helping patients regain independence, improve daily function, and enhance their quality of life in a collaborative rural healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients to determine functional needs, goals, and treatment priorities.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans to improve independence, safety, and daily function.
  • Implement evidence-based interventions to improve ADLs, IADLs, strength, coordination, cognition, and mobility.
  • Fabricate, fit, or recommend adaptive equipment and educate patients and caregivers on its use.
  • Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Supervise and mentor COTAs while directing patient treatment plans, as appropriate.
  • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans to optimize outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families on home programs, safety strategies, and functional independence.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, professional development, and a collaborative team culture.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program (or anticipated graduation).
  • Current Louisiana OT license, or eligibility for licensure upon graduation.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and evaluation skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and functional outcomes.
  • Experience in rural healthcare or a passion for serving rural communities.
  • Comfort supervising and collaborating with COTAs.
  • Strong documentation and time-management skills.
  • Willingness to work as part of a team.
