About the Role

Occupational Therapists play a vital role in helping patients regain independence, confidence, and quality of life after illness or injury. Working closely with physicians and an interdisciplinary care team, you will evaluate needs, develop individualized care plans, and provide hands-on treatment that supports recovery through every stage of healing. Responsibilities

  • Treat disabilities, injuries, and disease using therapeutic techniques according to prescriptions from a physician.
  • Perform testing and evaluation procedures on patients.
  • Record and document patient observation, treatment, and changes in condition.
  • Monitor, analyze, and review clinical data.
  • Reevaluate and modify treatment plans and goals based upon patient performance.
  • Communicate clearly and provide explanations of care in a way that can be easily understood by patients and their families.
  • Ensure patient's family is informed of patient status.
  • Evaluate each patient’s functional abilities and needs, then develop individualized therapy plans in coordination with physicians and the care team.
  • Deliver skilled, evidence-based interventions that promote healing, independence, and quality of life through purposeful, compassionate care.
  • Monitor patient progress, adjust plans as needed, and ensure thorough, timely documentation that reflects quality outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families to build understanding, confidence, and engagement throughout recovery and beyond.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners to ensure seamless transitions of care, safe environments, and exceptional patient experiences.
  • Lead by example—providing guidance to therapy assistants or students and upholding HCA Healthcare’s mission, values, and commitment to excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy; Master’s preferred.
  • Experience in an appropriate healthcare setting preferred.
  • Current Florida Occupational Therapist license.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) through AHA (American Heart Association).
  • Current FIM (Functional Independence Measure) required (within 90 days of hire).
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions.
  • PC skills.

HCA Florida Trinity Hospital is a 340-bed hospital serving Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas counties. We offer specialty services including surgical, oncology, and thoracic surgery.
