About the Role
Harbor Health & Rehab, a leading provider of healthcare services in East Chicago, Indiana, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team. You will play a vital role in helping our residents recover from injuries or illnesses and return to their normal daily routines.
Responsibilities
- Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities to identify their strengths, weaknesses, and potential limitations
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that focus on improving patients' abilities to perform daily living activities, such as dressing, grooming, and bathing
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive comprehensive care and support
- Utilize various therapeutic techniques, including exercises, activities, and equipment, to promote patients' recovery and independence
- Monitor patients' progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to coordinate care and address any concerns or questions
Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- Current licensure or certification to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Indiana
- Minimum of 0 years of experience in occupational therapy; new graduates welcome to apply
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
- Ability to lift, transfer, and position patients of varying weights and abilities
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems and ability to learn new systems quickly
