Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Affirms continued competency through professional development.
- Provides guidance to certified occupational therapy assistants collaboratively.
- Maintains awareness of legislative, political, social, cultural, and reimbursement issues affecting patients and occupational therapy practice.
- Systematically evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of occupational therapy services and implements improvements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Licenses and/or Certifications
- Current state licensure as an occupational therapist.
- New graduates must obtain Virginia state licensure within 90 days of employment as an Occupational Therapist.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Knowledge of occupational therapy treatment and modalities.
- Experience with administering a variety of assessment tools, treatment plans, and equipment.
- Ability to meet on-call requirements of the department.
Working Conditions
- Minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as excessive noise, dust, or extreme temperatures.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities.
