Occupational Therapist

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Affirms continued competency through professional development.
• Provides guidance to certified occupational therapy assistants collaboratively.
• Maintains awareness of legislative, political, social, cultural, and reimbursement issues affecting patients and occupational therapy practice.
• Systematically evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of occupational therapy services and implements improvements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Licenses and/or Certifications

• Current state licensure as an occupational therapist.
• New graduates must obtain Virginia state licensure within 90 days of employment as an Occupational Therapist.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

• Knowledge of occupational therapy treatment and modalities.
• Experience with administering a variety of assessment tools, treatment plans, and equipment.
• Ability to meet on-call requirements of the department.

Working Conditions

• Minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as excessive noise, dust, or extreme temperatures.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities.
