Birch Agency is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide school-based occupational therapy services in Broward County, Florida for the 2026-2027 school year. This flexible part-time opportunity supports students across three school sites located within approximately 30 minutes of one another.
Responsibilities
- Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and assessments to identify students' educational and functional needs.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with students' IEP goals.
- Provide direct occupational therapy services to students in individual and small-group settings.
- Address fine motor, visual motor, sensory processing, handwriting, self-care, and classroom participation skills.
- Recommend adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and classroom accommodations when appropriate.
- Monitor student progress and adjust intervention plans as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, service logs, and any required Medicaid billing.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, speech-language pathologists, school psychologists, physical therapists, and families.
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal special education regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program (for OT).
- Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program (for COTA).
- Active Florida Occupational Therapy license (for OT) or active Florida COTA license (for COTA).
- NBCOT certification preferred (for OT).
- Previous school-based or pediatric experience preferred.
- Must be able to work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (for COTA).
- Strong knowledge of pediatric development, sensory integration, fine motor development, and school-based therapy practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple school sites.
Work Environment
- School-based assignment serving students with diverse educational and developmental needs.
- Approximately 8 hours per week.
- Services provided across three Broward County schools located within a short driving distance of one another.
- Collaborative multidisciplinary team including educators, administrators, speech-language pathologists, school psychologists, and other related service providers.
- Flexible schedule that can complement an existing caseload or part-time practice.
