OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

Responsibilities

• Plans rehabilitation programs involving manual arts, practice in prevocation, vocation, homemaking skills, daily living, sensorimotor, educational and recreational activities.
• Selects activity program consistent with needs and capabilities of each patient and coordinates with other therapeutic activities.
• Selects constructive activities to help patients reach maximum independence, prepare them for work, restore functions, and aid in their adjustment to disability.
• Teaches patients necessary skills and techniques for participating in activities and evaluates their progress.
• Suggests special equipment for patients to use in adapting to work and living environments.
• Lays out materials for patients and cleans and repairs tools at the end of each session.
• Conducts and participates in training programs.
• Makes and fits adaptive devices such as splints and braces.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited college and licensed as an Occupational Therapist.
