About the role

Memorial Rehabilitation Institute provides highly specialized care ranging from complex multiple trauma, stroke and brain injury to physical and speech therapy. Inpatient care is offered at Memorial Regional Hospital South, with outpatient care available in five different locations. We also have a home health team and resources for long-term care at Memorial Manor, while also offering therapy for pediatric developmental diagnosis through Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and delegates care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians according to established licensing laws, state regulations, and practice standards.
  • Mentors peers and students.
  • Designs and implements a plan of care appropriate to problems identified, involving the healthcare team as well as the patient/family.
  • Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services.
  • Educates and counsels patients and families regarding treatment plans and progress.
  • Provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support resources.
  • Performs and documents initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition, including type and frequency of treatment.

Requirements

  • Accredited Program: Occupational Therapy (Required)
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross (multiple accepted formats listed in posting)
  • Occupational Therapy License from the State of Florida

Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
