About the role
The Memorial Rehabilitation Institute provides specialized care including complex trauma, stroke, and brain injury rehabilitation, along with physical and speech therapy. Services are offered at Memorial Regional Hospital South, in outpatient locations, and through home health and long-term care programs.
Responsibilities
- Performs and documents initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition, including type and frequency of treatment.
- Supervises and delegates care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians according to licensing laws, state regulations, and practice standards.
- Mentors peers and students.
- Designs and implements a plan of care appropriate to identified problems, involving the healthcare team and patient/family.
- Aids in patient discharge from therapy services.
- Provides education and counseling regarding treatment plans and progress, including information on adaptive equipment and support resources.
