Occupational Health Physician

Loyal Source Government Services is seeking a full-time Occupational Health Physician to provide services at Edwards Air Force Base, supporting military employee health, workplace safety, and workforce readiness.

About the role

The Occupational Health Physician provides occupational medicine services, evaluates work-related injuries and illnesses, and conducts required medical examinations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Physician to provide Occupational Medicine services to employees in various occupations, ages, and health conditions.
• Independently perform occupational physical examinations, including pre-placement, medical surveillance, medical qualification, disability retirement, fitness for duty, and other special employee examinations as required.
• Coordinate with facility and community resources to provide comprehensive work-related care, considering medical and occupational history, diagnostic tests, and emerging procedures.
• Provide guidance to employees on workplace hazards and exam results.
• Notify management of exam results and recommend appropriate work restrictions and accommodations.
• Apply new procedures in evaluating and treating complex work-related cases; conduct research to advance the Occupational Medicine program and improve quality.
• Interpret ancillary test results for occupational diseases or confounding health conditions, including blood counts, chemistry panels, pulmonary function tests, EKGs, X-rays, and audiograms.
• Diagnose and consult for follow-up evaluations of conditions discovered during occupational medical examinations.
• Evaluate and treat on-the-job illnesses and injuries; stabilize and transfer patients with urgent or life-threatening conditions.
• Assist in self-care transfer activities.
• Document all examinations and treatments accurately in health records.
• Participate in continuing education programs to maintain and update skills.
• Serve as a member of the professional medical staff, providing advisory and consultative services in meetings, committees, and boards.
• Assist in developing and supporting medical surveillance and qualification programs.
• Participate in committees evaluating patient care, identifying improvement opportunities, and recommending corrective actions.
• Contribute to performance improvement and risk management programs.
• Conduct periodic worksite visits to evaluate workplace hazards and control adequacy.
• Perform other assigned duties, including maintaining statistical records of clinical workload.
• Participate in monthly meetings to review and improve patient care, recommending corrective actions when needed.
• Provide monthly in-service training to non-healthcare staff on topics relevant to pharmacy services.
• Maintain medical records while respecting confidentiality and standard protocols.
• Provide training and guidance to government employees on clinical procedures, adhering to professional standards and protocols.

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from an accredited academic program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificates.
• At least two years of experience to meet clinical competency requirements.
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted physician license.
