Occupation Therapist - PRN

About the role

Richwood Nursing & Rehab is seeking an Occupational Therapist to work on a per diem basis. Located in Oldham County, LaGrange, near Exit 22 off Hwy 71, Cherrywood Subdivision.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat residents within 24 hours of physician referral.
• Develop and obtain approval for treatment plans from referring physicians.
• Treat patients according to physician treatment plans.
• Aid in training restorative aides.
• Supervise occupational therapy assistants in direct patient care and activities.
• Communicate with supervisor and other health team members about patient progress, issues, and plans.
• Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, and rehabilitation conferences as needed.
• Train other staff in the facility on services provided.
• Record evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, recertification documentation, and treatment changes as required by state practice acts and third-party payers.
• Instruct patient families or nursing staff on maintenance programs and caregiver training for discharge planning.
• Recommend and facilitate the ordering of necessary durable medical equipment for patients.
• Report any problems with department equipment to ensure it is maintained in good working order.
• Relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with patients/residents, families, staff, and professional colleagues.
• Supervise certified occupational therapy assistants, aides, and students.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy, preferably a Master’s or Doctorate degree.
• Proficiency in computer skills, including inputting data into programs like Casamba and Point Click Care.
• Ability to read and understand technical procedures and policy manuals.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Mathematical skills to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
• Reasoning ability to solve practical problems.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, push/pull, talk, hear, see, and lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception in vision.

Qualifications

• Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the state.
• Maintain a license in good standing with the state board.
