About the role

The Obstetrics Director supervises the Obstetrics Department, ensuring safe, quality patient care in alignment with AWHONN, ACOG, AAP guidelines, and regulatory standards. Reporting to the Senior Director of Acute Care Services, this role collaborates with physician leaders.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Creates an environment enabling high-quality patient care
• Coordinates with physicians for necessary resources
• Develops and maintains policies and procedures
• Facilitates relationships with other departments
• Participates in hospital-wide task groups
• Improves workflow and systems through quality improvement processes
• Performs or delegates auditing and competency assessments
• Supports ongoing training and onboarding
• Mentors and coaches staff

Required Skills/Abilities

• Effective communication (verbal and written)
• Quality improvement and standards knowledge
• Able to delegate tasks
• Good customer relations
• Basic computer knowledge
• Proficient computer knowledge preferred

Education and Experience

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school
• CA Registered Nurse license required
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
• Three years Obstetrics Nursing experience required
• Three years Obstetrics leadership experience required
• Previous Obstetrics Services Leadership experience preferred
• Certification in Obstetrics specialty preferred (RNC-OB, C-EFM, C-MNN, C-ONQS)
• Current BLS and NRP certifications
• STABLE certification within six months of hire
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) recommended
