OB/GYN Hospitalist Medical Director
About the Role
BJC Medical Group is seeking a Part-Time OB Hospitalist Medical Director to provide clinical leadership for its well-established OB Hospitalist program at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri. This leadership opportunity offers a flexible schedule, a collaborative culture, and the ability to help shape obstetric care delivery within a highly respected women's health program.
Opportunity Highlights

Program Overview
- Established team of 5 experienced OB Hospitalists/Laborists
- Collaborative partnership with 6 full-time Certified Nurse Midwives
- Midwifery team supported by a dedicated Director of Midwifery
- Strong relationship with hospital and obstetric leadership
Medical Director Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and guidance for the OB Hospitalist/Laborist team
- Oversee practice operations, including scheduling and workflow optimization
- Collaborate with obstetric leadership to develop and maintain standards of care
- Lead protocol development and program improvement initiatives
- Participate in peer review and quality improvement activities
- Support patient experience efforts and address patient concerns as needed
About the Hospital
Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. The hospital has a 24-hour adult emergency department and cares for pediatric patients at a separate emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children's Hospital.

Preferred Qualifications
- Role Purpose: Provides medical leadership and clinical direction. Establishes medical and educational policies and procedures for the provision of services. Consults with physicians and other health care providers. Ensures compliance with internal guidelines and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Provides guidance, advice, consultation, and medical expertise to physicians, health care providers and staff members
- Directs, creates and integrates the delivery of services utilizing the latest in evidence-based medical information
- Recruits and retains a strong and growing base of internal medicine and primary care physicians (PCPs) who predominantly chose to send their patients to BJC facilities
- Directs operations and integrates services within the work unit and with other departments
- Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership
- Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Doctorate
- Experience: 5-10 years
- Supervisor Experience: No Experience
- Licenses & Certifications: Licensed Physician
