About the role
CommuniCare+OLE is a network of federally-qualified health centers with 17 sites across Napa, Solano, and Yolo Counties. It offers comprehensive care, including medical, dental, behavioral health and substance use treatment, nutrition, optometry, pharmacy, care coordination, referrals, and enrollment assistance to more than 70,000 individuals, and no one is turned away due to lack of insurance, immigration status, or ability to pay. Many services are offered outside of its sites, including mobile health, home visiting, and community and school-based programs.
Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive gynecologic care including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, care planning, and patient education
- Performs office-based procedures within scope of practice (e.g., LARC insertion/removal, endometrial biopsy, colposcopy, miscarriage management, and other minor gynecologic procedures)
- Carefully coordinates care for patients requiring higher levels of care, including referral for gynecologic surgery and specialty services
- Reviews and manages patient information including laboratory results, diagnostic imaging, consultation notes, prior medical records, and referrals
- Prescribes medications and treatment regimens appropriately; reviews current medications to ensure safe prescribing and avoid adverse interactions
- Provides consultation and guidance to primary care providers and care teams regarding gynecologic concerns
- Prioritizes and manages patient care during clinic sessions, including urgent and add-on patients as appropriate
- Documents all patient care accurately and timely in the electronic health record, including completion of encounter documentation and billing requirements
- Responds to patient messages, results, and care coordination needs in a timely manner
- Completes required forms and medical documentation as needed
- Collaborates with nursing, medical assistants, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, high-quality care
- Participates in quality improvement activities related to women’s health, including cancer screening and reproductive health metrics
- Assists in coordination of outreach and education efforts related to gynecologic and reproductive health services
- Maintains required licensure, certifications (e.g., BLS; ACLS; ALSO, etc), DEA registration, and credentialing
- Functions as a member of the medical team, including maintaining effective communication and participation in meetings as needed
- Maintains ongoing clinical competence through continuing medical education
- Maintains professional and ethical standards
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Education: MD or DO, licensed in California, with Board Certification
- Current Basic Life Support CPR (or ACLS) and Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) certification required
- Experience/Lived Experience: Experience in a community healthcare center preferred
- Trauma-informed de-escalation skills required
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills required
- Special Skills/Training: Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Bilingual in threshold language for community preferred
- Strong time management skills, ability to prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of Electronic Health Record and associated computer programs
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task and have strong time management skills
- Ability to collaborate with mutual providers of treatment in mental health, prenatal, and primary care team
Qualifications
- Must have or obtain current California medication furnishing license
