About the Role
We are looking for an OB Technician to join our collaborative team at Memorial Health.
Responsibilities
- Sets up vaginal delivery tables; prepares supplies, instruments, and equipment for deliveries and surgical procedures.
- Opens sterile supplies, sets up the operating room (OR) for cesarean sections, and performs scrub duties.
- Labels and prepares specimens for pathology.
- Supports licensed nurses by assuming responsibility for direct and indirect patient care, including assisting with activities of daily living, personal care, comfort measures, and maintenance of a safe and clean environment.
- Charges supplies accurately.
- Collects patient data such as vital signs, weights, input and output, and pain scores; identifies and reports significant findings to the licensed nurse.
- Documents findings and care within established timeframes.
- Assists patients with calling for transportation as needed.
- Monitors the overall appearance of lobbies and entrances; assists and directs patients regarding the registration process and hospital procedures.
- Communicates professionally and appropriately at all times with staff, patients, and visitors.
- Maintains accurate employee records.
- Demonstrates teamwork and serves as a primary resource for patients and guests by greeting, instructing, and directing them in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
- Serves as a liaison between patients, staff, and other departments.
- Provides wheelchair assistance as needed.
- Responds to inquiries and directs parties to the appropriate authority.
- Responds to emergencies outside normal working hours (e.g., internal and external disasters).
- May work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays as scheduled or assigned.

- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
- Attends all mandatory education and in-services (e.g., team training, safety, infection control).
- Completes mandatory health requirements.
- Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital’s and department’s Ethics and Compliance program.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
- Completion of high school education supplemented with coursework or experience evidencing basic knowledge of patient care techniques (e.g., currently enrolled in nursing or another related medical field and/or proven competency-based qualifications of Patient Care Technician II).
- Strong clinical knowledge of the OR environment.
- Surgical Technician or OB Technician experience preferred; Medical Assistant and STNA experience may be considered.
- Obtain American Heart Association BLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintain continuous certification.
- Obtain Behavioral Health & De-Escalation training (BHDT) within six months of employment and maintain annual certification.
- Surgical Technologist certification is preferred.
