Summary

In a coordinated approach, the individual is responsible for assisting during/after surgery for cesarean sections, assisting patients with activities of daily living, using and caring for special equipment in Labor and Delivery, and assisting the RN/LPN in the care of antepartum/laboring/delivered patients. The Obstetrical Tech is also responsible for certain clerical and reception duties.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting during/after surgery for cesarean sections
  • Assisting patients with activities of daily living
  • Using and caring for special equipment in Labor and Delivery
  • Assisting the RN/LPN in the care of antepartum/laboring/delivered patients
  • Performing clerical and reception duties

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Or a graduate of Surgical Technology School

Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift/carry patient supplies

Skills

  • Basic knowledge of surgical procedures
  • Experience with special equipment used in Labor and Delivery
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
