OB Surgical Technologist

About the Role

Under the direction of Nursing and Medical Staff, you will provide a wide variety of duties related to patient care, clerical support, and surgical assistance for OB patients. You will work cooperatively with others as part of a team, performing clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to patient care and unit success.

Responsibilities

• Maintain professional accountability and technical support for OB patient care
• Assist in operational support tasks including maintenance of patient records, bed control and turnover, patient registration, charge capture, and ensuring adequate supplies
• Perform phlebotomy, transport of specimens, patient transport, and obtain blood glucose
• Enter Birth Certificate data
• Provide supportive care and assistance with ADLs to newborns, childbearing and postpartum patients, pediatric patients, and others as assigned
• Maintain calm and work efficiently through obstetrical emergencies as part of the team
• May be required to take call
• Perform duties consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and Service Standards

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Completion of a Surgical Technologist Program per the National Board of Surgical Technology (required)
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification (required, must maintain without gaps)
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
• New graduate up to experienced surgical technologist experience
• Must understand written and spoken English
• Must be able to perform job-related functions safely and successfully, with or without reasonable accommodation
