General Function
Maintain high quality tooling through preventative maintenance, minor repair, and visual evaluation.
Major Duties And Responsibilities
- Read and understand tooling drawings and follow instructions.
- Responsible for the correct disassembly and assembly molds in a safe and timely manner.
- Absorb responsibility when needed.
- Clean molds and assist Maintenance Technicians when needed.
- Work to a schedule and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
- Utilize measuring equipment that include micrometers, calipers, height gage, bore micrometers, etc.
- Absorb responsibility when given clear direction.
- Assist in the monitoring process to help keep a reasonable component inventory in stock.
- Reduce machine downtime.
- Maintain all tools and equipment that are used including the daily cleaning of tool room machinery.
- Work with little or no supervision when given clear direction.
- Work with Process Engineers to trouble shoot issues with tool or improve on.
- Ability to work on the production floor with tool in press to correct any issue to keep down time at a minimum.
- Ability to operate a Surface grinder with in a + or - .0002 on critical details.
- Ability to operate a Bridgeport/Lathe with in a + or - .001 tolerance.
- Knowledge of Manifold systems Example: Mold Master, Synventive, etc.
- Able to polish and bench details.
- Able to fit new detail and spot in.
- Able to troubleshoot issues and repair.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in a tool room involving plastic injection mold repair or mold maintenance.
- Must be a team player and educate and share ideals when needed.
- Knowledge and understanding of mold and die components and their respective characteristics.
- Ability to read and understand tooling drawings.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Willingness to learn new technologies.
- Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
- Initiative and proactive behavior in work environment.
- Ability to work more than 8-hours a day, weekends and holidays as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tool making certificate working in die cast or plastic injection molding.
- 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in a tool room involving plastic injection mold repair or mold maintenance.
- 3 to 5 years of experience using hand operated tool room equipment.
- SAP or other CMMS experience.
- Prototype Tool making experience.
- Injection Molding process Experience.
- Toolmaker/Mold Maker Journeyman certification preferred.
- Trade School or College.
