About the Role

This position is responsible for North Yard mechanical crane maintenance. Supervises, assigns, coordinates, and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel according to their skill, experience, and job knowledge. Supervises and trains employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed. Recommends training to enhance skill and productivity of employees and assists in the development of training procedures. Breaks broad strategies down to practical action plans and ensures employees are trained to perform these plans.

Responsible for complying with all technical aspects of the job, including adherence to all drawings and procedures. Oversees manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and process operations that have a significant financial impact on the company's performance. Supervises qualified trades staff and monitors job and budget performance for all shifts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree, OR
• Apprentice Certification, OR
• High School diploma and 4 years of combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, or military experience, OR
• Associate Degree in a Trade/Technical field and 3 years of relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, trade, and/or military experience.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out Y-1078 Procedure.
• Knowledge of SAP Plant Maintenance Module and documentation requirements.
• Ability to read complex schematics and machinery drawings.
• Familiarity with maintenance processes.

Pay

Salary range: $92,000.00 to $117,000.00. The anticipated salary range represents the estimated base pay for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.

$5,000 sign-on bonus for new hires in this position. Current Newport News Shipbuilding employees are eligible.
