Performs or assists in the performance of various operations and maintenance duties on the pipeline right of way and at remote delivery terminals, tank farms, and static locations to ensure safe and efficient operation of the pipeline, protection of the environment, and compliance with state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures. Involved in receiving, storing, and transporting refined liquid petroleum products.

Responsibilities

• Performs or assists in the performance of various operations, facility, and Right of Way maintenance tasks in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Uses mechanical, measuring, and testing devices, hand tools, computers, and other equipment, including driving company vehicles.
• Performs physical activities such as climbing tank stairs, digging, manually opening and closing large valves, regularly lifting 40 to 50 lbs, and occasionally moving or lifting up to 100 lbs.
• Performs operator-level product sampling using test equipment.
• Uses and prepares various documents, including DOT documents.
• Accepts delivery of liquid petroleum products and delivers product from the pipeline system, coordinating custody transfers with customer representatives when necessary.
• Provides HAZWOPER and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act support and participates in emergency response activities.
• Performs work on or related to the pipeline right of way, tank farms, or static sites as assigned.
• Drives company vehicle to work sites away from base location.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• 3–5 years of post-high school education or employment experience, or a combination equaling 3–5 years.
• Valid driver’s license and insurable by the Company Insurance Carrier.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Email) for sending/receiving emails, inventory accounting, and entering repair work orders.
• Ability to accept supervision, work cooperatively with others, and communicate effectively in English (oral and written).
• Ability to diplomatically and tactfully handle normal and potentially contentious situations (required for right-of-way assignments).
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations; calculators and computers are available.
• Dependability to perform job duties with little or no supervision.
• Ability to recognize, define, and resolve problems individually or in a group, including in ambiguous situations.
• Must satisfactorily complete all training, including passing evaluations and tests at the O&M level.
• Physical ability to manually open/close valves, dig, unload materials, lift/carry 40–50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
• Ability to walk on paved, gravel, or uneven surfaces; manipulate hand tools; and perform tasks requiring vision, standing, walking, sitting, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and communication.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant 2-year Associate Degree or 4-year degree.
• Prior experience in the petroleum industry, chemical process, power plant, or electrical/mechanical fields.

Schedule

• Work schedule as necessary (days, afternoon/evening, graveyard shifts), including overtime and call-outs, weekends, and holidays.
• Rotating shift schedules operating 24 hours/day, 7 days/week at static work sites.
• Work outside in all weather conditions, during daylight and darkness.
