About the role
Recurrent Energy is seeking an O&M Field Technician for our Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Division. The technician will perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment at operational solar farms or rooftop projects. The successful candidate will have strong electrical/mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and organizational abilities to drive project uptime and production targets, working independently or within a team.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot daily project system issues to meet uptime goals.
- Monitor hourly production output targets; execute corrective plans or escalate issues to avoid shortfalls.
- Follow maintenance schedules and perform routine maintenance (PMs, start-up tests, etc.) on equipment; determine maintenance needs and escalate problems to the O&M Manager.
- Identify potential problems and suggest changes or corrective actions.
- Collaborate with maintenance team members, sub-contractors, and other groups to improve system performance, product quality, and maintenance cost efficiency.
- Communicate cross-functionally to resolve plant issues.
- Ensure CMMS work orders are fully completed; prepare procurement documents for materials and vendor services.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with inverters, switchgear, transformers, breakers, communications equipment, and other project systems.
- Provide operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting training to operators and others as needed.
- Assist in developing standard operating documents for maintenance, operations, and training.
- Support project commissioning and testing with expert knowledge.
- Attend and participate in assigned safety, environmental, and other training.
- Oversee and supervise sub-contractors.
- Adhere to all health and safety rules and company policies.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Minimum 2–5+ years of hands-on field work experience; renewable energy (solar, wind, or similar) experience is an asset.
- NABCEP Certification is a plus.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing various types of electrical machinery and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications.
- Strong work ethic, positive team attitude, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work outside normal daytime hours (including nights and weekends) for emergency service or project equipment issues.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Valid driver’s license.
