O&M Coordinator

Springdale Energy is currently hiring an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Coordinator with Control Room Operations experience for our Springdale, PA facility. This is a management-level exempt salary position.

About the role

This position is responsible for operations and maintenance coordination, optimizing plant resources in the maintenance and operations area by completing procurement activities, planning contract maintenance activities, and maintaining the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). The role supports daily planning and scheduling of all maintenance as directed by the Maintenance Manager and supports the Operations Manager. The position operates from established procedures with general direction and supervision, making decisions within prescribed guidelines.

This role is designed for an individual seeking to grow into a management position within operations and/or maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary Maintenance and Operations point of contact, ensuring alignment across Plant Maintenance, Plant Operations, and Project teams on major maintenance plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Coordinate short- and long-term maintenance and project planning activities, including outage planning, preparation, scheduling, and execution.
• Communicate plant equipment condition and performance to the Maintenance Manager, Operations Manager, Plant Manager, and subordinate personnel, providing suggestions for plant improvement.
• Review daily corrective work orders and establish priorities based on safety, operational, and commercial impact.
• Act as the intermediary between support groups and the Operations department for maintenance plans, schedules, and routine CMMS backlog review.
• Develop 5- and 10-year major maintenance and outage site plans in CMMS, tying all preventive maintenance (PM) tasks to planned outages for budgeting support.
• Ensure all pre-outage, outage, and post-outage work is clearly scheduled and included in outage planning milestone tracking tools.
• Schedule and lead outage milestone update meetings with key stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance Managers on monthly schedules and coverage.
• Assume the responsibilities of the Control Room Operator (CRO) as required.
• Review journals, logbooks, shift turnovers, inspection of watch (IOW) surveillance round sheets, and other reports to identify trends and potential issues; trained in GADS reporting.
• Assume the responsibilities of the Maintenance or Operations Manager when the designated manager is unavailable.

Maintenance Activities

• Plan and coordinate mechanical, electrical, and technical contract maintenance activities, including daily, short-range, and long-range planning.
• Perform continuous review of plans and activities to increase asset value.
• Prepare, track, and maintain cost estimates and schedules.
• Utilize records and reports to establish maintenance frequency requirements.
• Interact with Operations staff to improve maintenance effectiveness.
• Ensure maintenance activities are supported with necessary parts, tooling, and services on a timely basis.

CMMS Coordination/Oversight

• Assist the Maintenance Manager in managing work orders and completing purchase requisitions in CMMS.
• Input work orders and manage the Document Library by updating drawings and OEM manuals as needed.
• Create new Preventive Maintenance tasks and adjust frequencies as directed.
• Maintain the equipment list and history, reporting CMMS issues to management promptly.
• Provide training and problem-solving support for other employees on the CMMS.
• Perform audits on portions of the CMMS and maintain paper and electronic files to document maintenance history, particularly for compliance.
• Contact vendors and contractors to obtain quotes or estimates for goods and services.
• Review specifications, scope of work, and pricing with appropriate managers, consultants, or employees.
• Coordinate deliveries and work dates with vendors and contractors, expediting as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years in control room operations (in lieu of education) or a Bachelor’s or two-year technical degree in engineering or physical sciences preferred.
• 2-5 years of experience in a maintenance/operations role, preferably in the power generation industry.
• Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong personal computer skills, specifically in Word, Excel, Project, and CMMS; experience in Maximo is a plus.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and procurement skills.
• Proven verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal and team-building abilities.
• Organization skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.

Skills

• Basic math skills and proficiency with power and precision tools.
• Ability to work cooperatively and without direct supervision.
• Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions in power plant equipment operation and maintenance.
• Strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures.
• Proficiency in Excel, scheduling, and basic data entry/computer skills.

Work Environment

• Protective equipment (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, high-voltage protective equipment) must be worn for some duties.
• Work with hazardous materials may be required.
• Extended working hours, varied shifts, or 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required by schedules, workload, and plant conditions.
• On-call status (day and night) may be required.
• Work includes both indoor and outdoor environments.

Physical Abilities

• Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, crawling, climbing (stairs, ladders), standing, walking, and sitting at a video display.
• Talking, carrying up to 50 lbs, reaching above/below/at shoulder level, clerical/typing, full motor capability, hearing, hand-eye coordination, and keyboarding.
• Lifting, pulling, or pushing up to 100 lbs; possibility of working on feet for extensive periods.
• Routinely lifting 50 pounds.
• Participation in the Fitness for Duty Program, including a post-offer physical examination, drug screening, and post-employment random drug screening.
• Ability to work in elevated areas, confined spaces, and extreme heat and cold conditions.
• Extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
