Nyoro Interpreter

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring bilingual Nyoro-English phone interpreters to work remotely from home. Interpreters serve clients in various industries including healthcare, 911 services, and government agencies.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally
• Render accurate translations of conversations between Nyoro and English speakers
• Adapt to different accents and cultural nuances
• Provide cultural competency and sensitivity in interpreting
• Work in a variety of industries including medical, insurance, finance, and law
• Be available during work hours and follow client instructions
• Stay calm and professional during emotionally charged or stressful calls
• Ensure punctuality and availability during work hours
• Follow protocol to avoid interacting with LEPs without client permission
• Understand and adhere to industry-specific terminologies
• Support and be part of a diverse and inclusive work environment

Qualifications

• Fluency in Nyoro and English
• Cultural competency and understanding of regional and accent differences
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills
• Ability to handle sensitive topics and remain neutral
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred
• Ability to adapt to LLS technology enhancements
• At least 18 years old
• Licensed to work in the United States
• Ability to read and write the requested languages (highly preferred)

Technical Requirements

• Dedicated personal device for business purposes
• Desktop/Laptop computers with Windows, MacOS, or ChromeOS operating systems
• Tablets (iPadOS or Android) and smartphones (iOS or Android) are acceptable
• High-speed internet connection with download speeds of no less than 5 Mbps, upload speeds of 3 Mbps, ping value of no more than 300 ms, and jitter value of no more than 30 ms
• Quiet workspace free from background noise or distractions

Physical Requirements

• Able to operate a keyboard and mouse for most of the workday
• Sufficient manual dexterity to type or write
• Able to lift up to 26 lbs
• May be exposed to moderate noise levels

Benefits

This is an independent contractor position and therefore not eligible for employee benefits. No visa sponsorship is provided.

Pay

The pay rate is $0.75 - $0.90 per minute.

Schedule

The position is a full-time remote role with flexible scheduling.
