Job Summary

Northwest Community Services is recruiting Support Care Assistants (Direct Support Professionals) for Individualized Supported Living (ISL)/Waiver homes in Higginsville, Missouri. This is entry-level direct care work involving the care and treatment of adults with developmental disabilities. Multiple shifts are available.

Salary and Benefits

  • $17.37 per hour plus $2.00 per hour for L1MA certification and observations.
  • Additional $2.00 per hour for night shifts (6pm-6am).
  • Twice monthly salary of $1,505.32 with shift differentials.
  • Overtime hours available and/or required.

Job Duties

  • Observes, reports, and assists in recording changes in the physical condition, behavioral response, and emotional status of clients.
  • Assists in providing basic health care for clients.
  • Checks vital signs, applies simple dressings, and maintains a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment.
  • Administers medication after receiving training from the agency.
  • Uses state vehicles to transport clients to appointments and activities.
  • Affords clients opportunities to participate in activities such as fishing, shopping, going to the movies, eating out, etc.
  • Assists clients with meals, bathing, grooming, and other needs.

Skills Needed

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for clients.
  • Understand and follow directions.
  • Accurately report and record observations.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, supervisors, and the general public.
  • Exercise good judgment and discretion in the performance of job duties.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Valid Missouri Driver's License.
  • Background screening is required.
