Essential Job Functions
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADL) tasks, including but not limited to bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring, and mobility.
- Maintain resident dignity and respect and in accordance with all policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines.
- Communicate appropriate information (including incident reports information) and any observed or suspected resident change of condition to a supervisor immediately.
- Encourage residents to socialize and participate in scheduled activities and outings and assist with those activities as needed.
- Respond promptly and courteously to all resident alerts, needs and/or requests for care, and provide assistance with care as needed.
- Observe emotional condition of each resident, promptly reporting all changes to the nurse.
- Follow and promote personal safety precautions and a safe environment for residents by observing infection control practices, following facility guidelines, and reporting unsafe situations to the nurse or management.
- Check each resident per service schedule to ensure that his/her personal care needs are being met in accordance with his/her wishes.
- Absorb resident safety by assisting in the performance of fire or other safety drills.
- Perform other essential job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge And Critical Skills
- Be able to make independent decisions and follow instructions.
- Deal tactfully with personnel, prospects, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the public.
- Capable of working with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people within the facility.
- Communicate effectively in a manner that is sufficient for supervisors, team members, prospects, residents, and families.
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job to ensure resident privacy.
- Knowledge/proficiency of facility EHR.
Education And Experience
- Must meet all applicable state and federal requirements for this position.
- Prioritize 6 months or more of experience in a home care, assisted living, or long-term care facility.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Tasks assigned to this position may involve potential and/or direct exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals.
- Physical Activities: Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds; moving, lifting or transferring of residents may involve lifting up to 75 pounds; Ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles over time without fatigue; Ability to stand for extended periods of time; Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, sit and reach.
- Cognitive Activities: Executes tasks independently; Ability to express yourself clearly and effectively verbally; Ability to concentrate on moderate details with frequent interruptions; Visual acuity; Hearing alertness.
- Environmental Requirements: An individual in this position may be exposed to: Ambient room temperatures and lighting.
