About the Role

Under limited supervision, this position performs all duties of a GA WIC Competent Professional Authority, meeting all standards established by GA WIC and CDPH. The role involves promoting and protecting the health and safety of residents in Cobb and Douglas Counties through nutritional counseling, assessment, and education.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains, documents, and plots anthropometrics and finger-stick hemoglobin with accuracy on WIC applicants per set guidelines.
  • Assesses nutritional needs, diet restrictions, and current health plans to develop and implement dietary-care plans and provide nutritional counseling.
  • Counsels participants, their families, and groups on nutritional principles, dietary plans, diet modifications, healthy eating habits, and nutrition monitoring to improve their quality of life.
  • Self-monitors and ensures compliance with GA professional and ethical standards for state employees.
  • Pursues ongoing professional development to maintain and enhance skills.
  • Manages inventory, which may require lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Works in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing and self-managing tasks as needed.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in dietetics, human nutrition, food and nutrition, nutrition education, food systems management, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Verification statement of completion of a didactic program accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • B.S. in an eligible degree for an Academy Accredited Dietetic Internship.
  • Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) and/or International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
  • GA WIC experience and/or CDPH WIC experience.

Work Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Inventory management may require lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Fast-paced work environment with the ability to prioritize and self-manage tasks.

Pay

$43,008.52 annually (Pay Grade H). Current state employees’ salary will be subject to State Personnel Board rule provisions.
