Nutrition Specialist

About the role

The Oakland County Health Division is seeking a Nutrition Specialist to support the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Nutrition Program. This is a hybrid position and is grant-funded, working in Pontiac, Southfield, and Walled Lake.

Responsibilities

• Provide nutrition counseling and care plans for eligible WIC families
• Offer breastfeeding promotion and education activities
• Referral participants to appropriate Health Division, County, or community resources
• Perform health screenings and minor laboratory tests at WIC clinics and community organizations
• Verify program eligibility and perform general office duties

Requirements

• Associate's degree in dietetic technician program with clinical or community emphasis from an accredited college or university OR
• Bachelor's degree in Foods and Nutrition or Dietetics from an accredited college or university OR
• Valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license

Qualifications

• Registration as a Dietetic Technician with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
• Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this classification
• Successfully complete the six month probationary period

• Reasonable ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Reasonable ability to prepare and present oral or written reports
• Familiar with current word processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail and Internet software

Pay

Annual Salary: $47,787-$64,025
