About the role

This position oversees food and nutrition services programs and personnel across multiple district schools and other sites. Key responsibilities include implementing approved programs, supervising staff, and monitoring food preparation and distribution.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as supervisor of major work units within the Nutrition center division or the field and Nutrition Education Services division.
  • Implements approved nutrition education, marketing, cost control, employee training, student/community involvement, quality control, and food preparation programs.
  • Assigns, trains, and supervises food service and support personnel, including making modifications to assignments, setting priorities, and training personnel.
  • Monitors payroll-related record keeping, ensures proper reporting of time worked and absences, and advises subordinate supervisors on matters related to employee supervision, recognition, and discipline.
  • Analyzes and compares food orders from school units with available historical data, identifies questionable orders, and takes appropriate action to reconcile potential discrepancies.
  • Maintains records and generates reports using automated record keeping software and computer terminals.
  • Makes oral and written directives, monitors and reviews records and reports prepared by subordinate staff, and provides on-the-job training to staff of the assigned unit.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and district requirements concerning sanitation, safety, program administration, and nutritional standards.
  • Reports operational problems to the Nutrition Program Manager and serves as a member of the Nutrition Services department and San Bernardino City Unified School District management team.

Requirements

Three (3) years of supervisory experience in a commercial or institutional food service industry within the past five (5) years, and a Bachelor's degree in dietetics, foods service management, business administration, or a closely related field.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid California drivers license and liability auto insurance.
  • Completion of ServSafe Certificate, provided by the district within 30 days of appointment.

Skills

Knowledge of commercial and institutional food service operations, supervisory skills, and proficiency in computer systems and record keeping software.

Management Salary Range 45.

Schedule
