Nutrition Services Associate - 5.5 hours/day Secondary

5.5 hours per day during school-day hours. Position begins at the start of the 2026-27 school year.

About the role

Comply with food service manager's instruction on production, preparation, and service of food. Comply with department standards to account for meals (reimbursement and ala carte sales). Comply with food service manager's instruction on clean-up of kitchen, serving area, cafeteria, and dishroom. Comply with standards of safety in handling, preparation, storing, and serving food. Work on computerized point of sale equipment to process students through breakfast and lunch lines. Work efficiently and cooperate with other employees. Attend job-related training classes and workshops. Interact with students in a positive and professional manner. Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Follow food service manager’s instructions on food production, preparation, and service
• Adhere to department standards for meal accounting (reimbursement and ala carte sales)
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, serving area, cafeteria, and dishroom
• Ensure safety in food handling, preparation, storage, and serving
• Operate computerized point-of-sale equipment for student meal processing
• Collaborate with team members and work efficiently
• Attend required training classes and workshops
• Engage with students in a positive and professional manner
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED equivalent
• Basic arithmetic, reading, and writing skills
• Ability to safely lift up to 40 pounds, stand for 3–6 hours, and perform bending, twisting, and repetitive motions
• Experience in institutional or school food service is helpful
• Must complete Serve Safe course and pass exam with 70% or higher within one year of hire
• Previous point-of-sale experience preferred
• Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
• Experience working with culturally, ethnically, racially, and socioeconomically diverse school communities is preferred

Pay

Nutrition Services Associate: $20.91 – $23.42 per hour (based on 2026-27 contractual agreement).
