About the Role

This position leads the Culinary Services team or service line when other leadership is not on-site, while also fulfilling the role of the Nutrition Care Associate. Responsibilities may include ordering and rotating supplies, planning and facilitating catering functions, and leading a satellite café location. The role supports facility efforts to improve the patient and guest experience.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and maintains workflow of assigned area, ensuring tasks are completed.
  • Resolves immediate issues such as service recovery, coaching/redirecting caregivers, and rearranging staffing; escalates to manager as appropriate.
  • Participates in orienting, training, scheduling, coaching, and leading employees.
  • Ensures department standards for quality, sanitation, and safety are met.
  • Communicates issues with appropriate members of management.
  • Contributes to achievement of consumer satisfaction and patient engagement goals.
  • Implements best practice, system-level initiatives under the direction of the Nutrition Services Manager.

Requirements

  • Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification required by the first day of work (required only in Utah and Idaho).
  • ServSafe certification obtained within 90 days of hire if not current (exempt for call center caregivers).
  • Demonstrated ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize safe food handling techniques.
  • Understands workflow, prioritizes tasks, and meets deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service (preferred).
  • Understands modified diets (preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize commercial cooking equipment (preferred).

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and assess customer needs.
  • Frequent interactions with customers requiring clear communication and understanding of spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues.
  • Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment, including frequent computer, phone, and cable use.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment, including heavy items.
  • Work on hands and knees and bend to set up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.
  • Remain standing for long periods to perform work.
  • Tolerate temperature extremes (e.g., working at a grill or in a refrigerator) and exposure to cleaning chemicals.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $20.45 - $27.04, dependent upon experience.
