Nursing Supervisor- Per Diem
About the role
The Nursing Supervisor is an administrative management position that represents nursing administration. The Nursing Supervisor assesses the overall daily hospital environment and operations, is accountable for problem solving and initiating immediate, effective action as well as maintaining daily staffing level.
Essential Responsibilities / Duties
- Keeps Medical Center and Nursing Administrator-on-call apprised of administrative and emergent issues.
- Participates in planning and allocating the resources of the division and assists in the distribution of resources within each unit.
- Participates in contract compliance and ongoing labor relations.
- Participates in hospital and nursing committees.
- Makes administrative decisions within budgetary requirements.
- Implements disciplinary actions within the Medical Center guidelines.
- Participates in strategic planning, goal setting and evaluation.
- Participates in performance improvement activities.
- Documents and communicates to administrator issues involving other hospital departments during one’s tour of duty.
- Facilitates conflict resolution of staff and patients to appropriate parties and documents when and if necessary.
- Captures incoming transfers and referrals for the Medical Center.
- Works with referring MD to facilitate appropriate patient triage and placement.
- Works to reduce transfer delays, balance patient flow and helps to standardize patient pathways.
- Ensures adequate levels of staffing throughout all shifts.
- Maintains transfer database.
Required Education And Experience
- BSN and at least 5 years of nursing/ICU experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certifications, Licenses, Registrations Required: Registration and current RN licensure in the state of MA in good standingBLS/ACLS
Preferred Education And Experience
- MSN
- Patient Transfer Center experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Meditech proficient
- EPIC proficient
- Excel Proficient
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
