Nursing Supervisor - Capacity Management - Per Diem Nights
About the role
The Capacity Manager is responsible for directing patient placement activity from all areas of access (ED, OR, Direct Admits, etc). The Capacity Manager collaborates with all stakeholders and is accountable for maintaining patient flow activity 24/7, assisting the House Supervisor to assure continuity of care.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with nursing supervisors, Nursing leadership, infection control staff, ED leadership, EVS & Transport leadership to define appropriate patient placement and ensure execution of all patient movement decisions.
- Maintains ongoing communication with aforementioned leaders and Patient Placement Coordinators to direct capacity and throughput operations and ensure continual patient flow.
- Rounds on all units and departments assisting with barriers to patient flow and movement.
- Utilizes critical thinking and decision-making processes to independently direct and/or implement solutions to patient placement or transfer issues.
- Collaborates with all required stakeholders (nursing, physicians, infection control, EVS, transport, leaders and team members, etc) utilizing appropriate communication skills and tools.
- Easily diffuses difficult situations and responds appropriately.
- Performs daily work tasks maintaining extraordinary Customer Service at all times.
- Serves as Capacity and Throughput leader 24/7 collaborating with and directing staff in all departments keeping timely and efficient patient placement as primary driver.
- Promptly escalates unresolved and/or chronic concerns to appropriate leaders.
- Accountable for achieving targets for measures defined by Capacity Management team and leadership.
- Collaborates and directs Patient Placement Coordinator to monitor defined measures and promote continuous patient movement; Utilizes appropriate tools and technology (Excel, analytics tools, etc) to stay consistently aware of accurate admission, discharge, and transfers and all patient flow measures and statistics.
- Demonstrates expertise in working with required computer applications, phone systems and patient tracking tools.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Requirements
- RN required.
- RN experience, preferably in an acute care area (5+ years).
- Demonstrates advanced clinical knowledge and skills.
- Demonstrates advanced problem solving & leadership competencies.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Current license by the State of New Jersey Board of Nurse Examiners in Professional Nursing.
- Knowledge and experience with computers, Outlook, Word & Excel.
Qualifications
Preferred: BSN.
Pay
Minimum rate of $60.80 hourly. The posted rate of pay is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting. The base compensation determined at the time of the offer may vary based on factors including labor market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, budget, and grant funding.
