Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Maintains staffing needs on a shift-by-shift basis and obtains necessary resources.
  • Assists with deploying central staffing RNs by performing identified daily operations.
  • Schedules professional and support staff to nursing units according to established staffing models.
  • Assigns personnel to cover for absent employees and reassigns others as needed.
  • Records call-ins and overtime worked, ensuring accurate distribution of hours.
  • Maintains and updates all records, logs, and files related to staffing activities.
  • Prepares and analyzes statistical reports, including developing new reports.
  • Prints and maintains staffing worksheets.
  • Provides new employees with information about hospital and department policies and procedures.
  • Attends required meetings, in-services, and educational programs.
  • Assists with maintaining personnel data in the electronic database.
  • Monitors and provides information on the budget for manager review.

Education/Experience Required

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • One to three years of related staffing, scheduling, or healthcare business experience are required.
  • Basic knowledge of nursing positions and understanding of nursing staff patterns is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience with automated staffing and scheduling software is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is required.
  • Basic computer data entry skills and report development knowledge are required.
  • The ability to be highly organized and thrive in a high-paced setting while meeting multiple deadlines is essential.
  • Excellent customer service skills are required.
