Nursing Staff Scheduling Coordinator

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain 4-week staffing plans and daily staffing sheets.
  • Ensure staffing aligns with resident census, acuity, and compliance standards.
  • Adjust schedules for absences, callouts, and time-off requests.
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership and employee health to forecast staffing needs.
  • Career Development: Coordinate onboarding schedules for new hires.
  • Maintain accurate records of staff availability, preferences, and commitments.
  • Minimize overtime and resolve staffing inconsistencies.
  • Support recruitment efforts by identifying staffing gaps.
  • Affiliate Support: Assist with payroll/HRIS updates and monitor staff clocked hours.
  • Communicate staffing issues to ADON, DON, and nursing supervisors.
  • Provide limited administrative support to the medical team.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: High school diploma, GED, or HiSET required. Associate’s degree or higher in healthcare administration or related field preferred. 1–3 years of related experience required; 2+ years in healthcare scheduling or administration preferred.
  • Standard driver’s license (Class C or D).

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with long-term care, hospital, or pediatric settings is a plus.
