About the role
The Nursing Simulation Facilitator directs the simulation practice portion of Mitchell College’s 4-year, direct entry bachelor of nursing science (BSN) program. Responsibilities include simulation administration, instruction, and institutional-specific duties.
Responsibilities
- Simulation Administration Duties: Conduct annual and periodic maintenance of simulation equipment and facilities, orient and support faculty and staff, recommend upgrades, develop an evidence-based simulation policy and procedure manual, develop and manage a simulation budget, order and track simulation supplies and reference materials, allocate resources in a cost-effective manner, and complete an annual nursing simulation report.
- Simulation Instruction Duties: Facilitate high-quality student simulation instruction across diverse simulation fidelities, utilize nursing informatics and teaching strategies such as debriefing sessions, serve as a substitute clinical, laboratory, and simulation lab instructor when faculty emergencies and unforeseen events occur.
- Institutional-Specific Duties: Attend and participate in convocation and commencement ceremonies, serve on assigned committees and task forces, and participate in professional, staff, and informational meetings.
Requirements
- Active, unencumbered RN license in the state of Connecticut
- Current BLS certification
- Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program
- Certification in simulation from an accredited organization
- At least 2 years of experience in simulation nursing instruction and evaluation methods
- Knowledge of simulation course design and familiarity with accreditation process at institutions of higher learning
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications: RN license, BLS certification, Master’s degree in nursing, simulation certification, 2+ years of simulation nursing experience, and relevant certifications.
- Preferred qualifications: Doctorate in nursing, professional portfolio, 5+ years of full-time experience in higher education, 4+ years of experience as a full-time nursing simulation coordinator, 4+ years of experience with ABLE, peer-reviewed publications, CNE certification, ALS certification, INACSL certification, CHSE certification.
